There is some heavy equipment and a well drilling rig at the top end of Groom Lake Road, near the highway (see attached photo). A sign says "Exploration & Wells WDC". Aparently the well is part of a system tapping into the water level up there to supply water for Las Vegas. Two more wells are planned north of Rachel. Thanks to "Scoop William" (Bill Whiffen from Rachel) for the info, and for the photos!
