And all the while, airlines in the US are cutting mechanic and crew wages resulting in less and less experienced personnel as the most experienced leave or retire or get laid off. Fewer and fewer skilled people want the jobs due to the bad hours and conditions (most maintenance is NOT done in a nice cozy hanger but rather outside at night) because they are no longer compensated with high pay. The result is that maintenance is starting to migrate overseas where there are language problems and no safety incentive of having your own family fly on the plane.
