GERMAN AIR FORCE AIRCRAFT CRASHES

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. - A German Air Force Tornado fighter-bomber
crashed 8:57 p.m. Friday (March 23) in the restricted area on the Nevada Test and Training
Range. The conditions of the two aircrew members are unknown at this time.

The German Air Force have been here participating in a Red Flag Exercise 01-3,
which began March 3.

German and U.S. Air Force officials are in route to the crash site 100 miles northwest
of Las Vegas and 40 miles southeast of Tonopah, Nev. Because of safety concerns and
restrictions on the range, the public and the media will not be allowed near the crash site.
