If you listen to the BDA (bomb damage assessment) at the end of a bombing run, they will give out the cooridnates of the targets. Many of the coordinates match these types of patterns.

About two years ago, I used archive.org to dig up all the photographs of the targets that used to be on the Nellis website. It may still work. I put in a link to get you started on the search.
