some area 51 freqs from the net

Message posted by gary on March 22, 2001 at 22:53:09 PST:

I did a google search and found a few groom lake freq pages, many that dupe each other, and probably pre-date the trunked system. These freqs may be worth what you paid for them. ;-)

The official DLR freq list is here:
http://www.dreamlandresort.com/info/scanner.html

I've noticed there is no lowband freq for the security helicopter.

These are the freq I found on the net not on the DLR list:

167.825 - Nellis Range/Nevada Test Site security
Unknown use, but reported: 167.70 MHz
410.8 Pager (apparently from Groom but unconfirmed)

Here is the raw data with links:

Scanner radio frequencies not in the "Area 51 Viewer's Guide" that may be
useful. (all channels listed are FM):
138.3 MHz - security, during our visit - used on the Nellis Range/Nevada
Test Site. (I have heard that the Air Force security units nationwide are
changing down to the 136-144 MHz range, from their older channels in the
162-168 MHz range).
167.825 - Nellis Range/Nevada Test Site security
148.5 - Nellis Range security
163.4875 - Nellis AFB primary security channel
163.5875 - Nellis AFB secondary security channel
155.655 - Nevada law enforcement - statewide mutual aid channel

----- JANET HANDOFF FREQUENCIES ----

Published here for the first time are the air traffic control frequencies for the "Janet"
737 crew flights from Las Vegas McCarran Airport to Groom. The McCarran freqs
are public, but the Groom ones have not been revealed until now. Air traffic control
broadcasts are "in the clear" and any scanner radio should be able to pick them up.
Each of these freqs has been personally confirmed by Psychospy or a close associate.

121.9 McCarran Ground Control
119.9 McCarran Tower
133.95 Departure Control
119.35 Nellis Control
120.35 Groom Approach
127.65 Groom Tower
118.45 Groom Ground

Here are some other Groom freqs (some of which were previously reported in DR #8).
The security frequencies are usually scrambled, but not always.

418.05 Cammo Dudes (primary)
408.4 Cammo Dudes (repeat of 418.05)
142.2 Cammo Dudes
170.5 Cammo Dudes (Channel 3)
138.3 "Adjustment Net" (seems related to security)
261.1 Dreamland Control (published)
255.5 Groom Tower (repeat of 127.65)
154.86 Lincoln County Sheriff
496.25 Road sensors on public land
410.8 Pager (apparently from Groom but unconfirmed)

The most accurate way to detect a road sensor (AFTER you have tripped it), is to
program 496.25 into several channels of your scanner, then scan those channels
exclusively as you are driving. When the scanner stops on one channel, you have
just passed a sensor.

The roving military security patrols use (F-1) 14220 MHz and (F-2) 141.50 MHz. The base station i. on 167.70 and 409.025 MHz. These are heavy-duty dudes , so you don't want to wander into any "off limits" zones. Ground-intrusion sensors (496.25, 496.25, 496.275, and 496.30 MHz) are in use, as well as video survediance equipment.

Among the frequencies in use for various aeronautical purposes are "Dreamland Control" on 118.7,125.18, 253.4, 255.8, 261.1, and 392.1 MHz. "Darkstar" (965th AACS) AWACS operations are on 376.2 and 391.8 MHz. The 554th Range Group is on 238.3, 259.4, 26842, 293.5, and 389.1 MHz. The "Skunkworks" is on 264.1, 264.6, 275.2, 283.7, 289.4, 292.1, 345.4, 349.3 379.9, 382.6, 407.40, and 407.50 MHz.
