Actually, that clears up some other issues. What made me think that every airport in the US started with a K was that the military notams use such designations. For instance, L57 (Hidden Hills, i.e. Pahrump) is listed as Kl57 on the https://www.notams.jcs.mil website. But probably that small airport is not set up for international use.
