It's just a guess, but I would think if the camera's not movable, then it's set for a fairly wide field, and serves as a fairly good "early warning system, given the flat territory around the gate.We have a commercial camera on top of our microwave tower at work that serves fairly much the same function. It's still not out of tehrealm of possibilites that it's also infrared or thermal switchable. wonder if it's connected to that microwave dish, that would make for good remote monitoring.

Yes, Spooky, the Secret Service has more than optics to monitor the grounds with, but they had to set it higher than the squirrel returns.. Same as at Camp David. Ain't technology grand?
