If you go to the url I have attached and go down and look at the preview shown of Volume 5 Number 2, in the middle you will see the drawing of the GRM-29a. That stands for, "Global Range Mach 29" and is a sub-orbital space bomber design by "then" McDonnell Douglas. That particular design had three SSME's in the tail and one in the nose. It would take off like a Harrier and could operate from any Air Force Base or just about any other good airfield.
