The PYD beacon can be heard in many locations around Rachel. From the signal strength I see in various locations, such as Hancock Summit, GL Rd. The Backgate etc. I believe the beacon to be south of Groom. In fact, I suspect PYD stand for Pyramid, which is a common waypoint in the flightplans from LAS to Groom ("clear via Pyramid then as filed"). I believe it to be on one of the peaks south of Groom.
