My short list of suggestions:
Camera: Nikon F3 with DW4 magnifying viewfinder (no
longer manufactured, so check ebay); camera requires a remote release; use mirror lock.
Film: Fuji Astia 100F pushed 1 stop (ISO 200) if you have access to a slide scanner, ASA 100 speed print film if you are going to scan prints
Filter: William "minus violet"
Telescope: 3" to 4' refractor, 500mm to 700mm, fluorite preferred, ED OK; The Orion ED 80 might be a good starting point
Additional magnification: eyepiece projection through about 12mm to 15mm orthoscopic
tripod head: Bogen geared head (#410)
tripod: Up to you, but it needs to support the weight

Above all, practice practice practice before climbing Tikaboo with all this gear.

Scope reviews:

http://www.weatherman.com/ AKA Todd
Between Ed and Todd, if they build it, either Ed or Todd will buy it and let you know how it works
