Regarding the coverage--probably just not many people were looking up and those that did see it didn't report it. It isn't really all that surprising though since apparently no one saw the landing gear of the space shuttle fall off. Lincoln County, NV, and the county next door in Utah are very sparsely settled but it always seems like that with such clear skies someone would have been looking up. Well now you have something to tell your grandkids!
