The Nellis range chickens did not taste like chicken. Rather, they tasted like steak and thus are long gone.

In all seriousness, the Ballarat Bandit must of had a few satellite photos or good maps to find water in order to survive. You can't possible carry enough water to go 60 miles, even in the Warm Springs are where it is very high desert. Even in such remote areas, there are mining and raching facilities where he could steal a bit of food or water, but they are easil 20 miles apart.

One trick to find "outposts" in the desert is with nightvision. There are places that you just don't notice during the day that are easily spotted at night if they have electricity. You can spot a light easily 90 miles away with night vision.
