Do the Red Hats (the MiGs and Sukhois that we've "acquired") ever mix it up in Red Flag? It would seem to me that it's the reason the squadron exists, i.e. to serve as a training tool for A2A. You wouldn't need to put together a whole group of aircraft like that if their only purpose was R&D.
