Alot of the VOR/DME approches are named after the landing field (old and new) names that were applied to the area. They can change at the "drop of a hat". When new chnages are made to any approach new VOR/DME charts are generated/distributed. Some approches are named after the person first flying the approch. Here's a link that "kinda" explains it.
