Labor Day Nuclear Waste Rally in Rachel

A renewed citizen's fight to stop the Government from turning Yucca Mountain into America's nuclear waste dump will kick off Labor Day, Sept. 6, at the Little A'le'Inn in Rachel, Nevada.
The Rally at Rachel is being sponsored by Citizen Alert, a Nevada grassroots organization that has been fighting the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Depository since it was first proposed back in 1975. The rally will kick off Citizen Alert's "Back to our Route" Tour as we go on the road to 25 communities throughout Nevada during September and October to hold town hall meetings and reawaken citizen opposition to the Yucca Mountain Project. The centerpiece of the tour will be a mock nuclear waste cask mounted on a 20' trailer to demonstrate the dangers of putting lethel loads of high-level nuclear waste on America's highways and railways.
The rally will begin at 11am, Sept. 6 in the parking lot of the Little A'le'Inn. Peggy Maze Johnson, Executive Director of Citizen Alert, will speak on creative ways to throw monkeywrenches into the Department of Energy's plans to turn Nevada into a nuclear wasteland. There will also be guest speakers and entertainment. And because it's Labor Day and everyone likes a picnic, Pat Travis and her crew at the Little A'le'Inn will be cooking up an old fashioned barbeque for the crowd.
So start making your plans to be there. If you want to come the day before, you can make motel reservatons by calling the Little A'le'Inn at 775-729-2515. There also lots of space to pitch tents if you are into camping out.
