I have visited the GASBUGGY site and camped at ground zero. It is a beautiful grassy meadow in the Carson National Forest. As at all the offsite test areas, there is a monument with a bronze plaque at the GZ. I have also visited other offsite shot locations in New Mexico (TRINITY and GNOME), Nevada (SHOAL and FAULTLESS), and Colorado (RULISON and RIO BLANCO). I have not visited the sites in Alaska and Mississippi, but I have visited most areas of the NTS numerous times.
(Trivia: A number of bronze commemorative coins were placed at the GZ during the test. They were later suspended in plexiglass cubes as souvenirs for officials who were involved with the project.)
