Another thought: You tend to view international politics differently after you do extensive research into secret programs.

For example, JFK told us that we should put men on the moon "Because its there!", but spy satelites were the underlieing reason for a massive "Space exploration" budget. The walking on the moon part was a major breakthrough, but it was more of a publicity stunt than anything else, to justifiy the budget and opperation of the "most active missle testing facility on earth", Cape Canaveral. To this day most people don't think of NASA as being an arm of the military, but 85% of it's work is "nation defence".

So, all the research that you do, gives you a better prepective as a bases for better opinions about the [currently] unknown. Wheather that "unknown" be: "What is the SR-71's replacement?", "Do ET aliens, exist?", "What is Arura?", "Is Supersonic passenger transport in our future?", "What is the likelyhood of nuclear war?", "What is the bext generation fight plane going to be like?" ect.
