I've done photos from LVB near the corner of what now would be called the old fence. It's not impossible to get "good enough for the web" photos there, but you must pan while shooting, and obviously need a telephoto lens, at least 300mm to 400mm, and that won't fill the frame.

I found that using a "video head" on the tripod helps when panning. The planes arrive in a very predictable manner, so you can easily track them and wait for the right momemt to get the tail number.

Taking photos from the Hollywood Blvd location will require a telescope, so that will limit the photos to planes parked on the ground.
