I have always thought, that from the bottom, the BoP might be the "Flying Avocado" that was reported seen flying around Area 51.

As for the luminous panels, I have seen refernces to the technology in Aviation Week and don't have any reason to doubt it exists based on patents applied for regarding such technologies by Lockheed Martin. With it being a classified technology, they would obviously remove that before unveiling the aircraft and place normal skin/panels on the aircraft in a manner that wouldn't reveal how the technology is applied.

As for the similarities between the BoP and the X-45, what it mainly contributed to the X-45 was the low cost construction techniques that were explored in the BoP's construction. Also, the fluidic controls were probably refined for the yaw vectored thrust, which were probably a refinment of those used on the X-36 for the BoP.
