There has been some mining activity near the TTR in the last year or two. I haven't gone as far as Silver Bow in some time so I can't comment on activity there. The mining I saw was a bit south of Golden Arrow. I camped out at the TTR one Saturday night, a time when you would think things would be dead, and scanned what I guess were reserve units training on targets south of the TTR. The AWACS spotted a player that was not in the game. ;-) I think a nice toy to have in the ranges would be an IR detector to see if you are being "painted." It may be the case that the type of laser detector used to avoid speed enforcement could do the trick.
