Why not wait for the GPS76CS. It's about the same price, but twice the memory. It should be out by the end of the month.

You need 16Mbytes for the topo around the Nellis range, for the current generation map CDROM, which uses 100k basemaps. However, for some regions, Garmin is using 24k databases. It might be nice to have enough memory to hold the higher resolution database, should it become available.

I put in the link for the DIY Garmin maps, more as a novelty since it looks like a lot of work.
