Hi Vega!
"Telescopes" is SUCH a complicated topic that the Astronomy shops, magazines, & Clubs/Socities have many dedicated websites & mail-lists on the WWW/Internet...

But for starters - you need to establish:
a) How much can afford?
(Please don't go for a cheap 'scope, you'd be much better-off with good binoculars!)

b) Size matters!
Are you going to need to travel with your scope? If so it should be small enough to transport/carry/fit in your bag/case/car... If you're home-based, you could have a larger model (like a Dobsonian) in your back-yard!

c) Purpose?
You spotting Groom Lake AFB, planets like Saturn & Jupiter, &/or Deep Space galaxies & nebulosity?!

Please contact me off-list for more detailed info if required - meantime look at the Astronomy & Sky & Telescope websites for general info...

Good Luck, & Have Fun!!!
Best Regards,
Bill T.
