I think to get good photos of the choppers, we need to hike the hill further to the west. I'm going hike this next time I'm out there to determine the difficulty. I tried some of the back roads near the hill and found them very 4wd and not much closer than hiking from the parking lot at Coyote Summit.

Generally the accomodations at the casinos in Vegas are cheaper then the hotels, thanks to gambling profits. I've had great deals at the Hilton on Paradise and the Gold Coast on Flamingo, which incidentally is just down the street from the Palms. The buffet at the Palms on Friday night is the usual menu suplimented with prime rib and crab legs, all you can (oink oink) eat of course.

I've stayed at the Stratosphere a few times, but the energy surcharges really bug me, as well as a per minute charge on the phone line, which adds up if you are surfing the net.

The Tropicana Island Tower is the spot if you want to snoop on the Janets.

I've stayed at the Golden Nugget, but the downtown can be pretty seedy.
