Other than at Tikaboo where it can't be done, I always park my truck where it can be seen from the air, which I think is good advice.

There are some funny nuances about insurance with 4wd rentals regarding going off-road, like the insurance isn't valid off-road. I don't have first hand knowledge of this, but it was something I was told.

If you have a ham license, the repeaters on Angels Peak are accessible from most of the higher elevation hills near the ET Highway. [Angels Peak is located near Mt. Charleston and is about 9500ft high.] One of the UHF repeaters is linked to sites in Arizona, so it is well monitored. I'm not sure which one, but there are only two on the list provided.
