See link. There is nothing in Hiko. Other than Alamo, your choices are Tonopah or Caliente. The motel with the hot springs piped into your room is an interesting experience. Since I don't know when you are visiting, I can't comment on camping. However, I don't think I'd sleep in a tent in the high desert until May. I've car camped in the high desert any time of the year, even January. When it gets really cold, you start the engine and warm up.
