I bought my scanner online, from cbshop.com They are located in the Netherlands, so shipping takes a little longer. But they have great prices, you save the tax and the scanners have no gaps in the coverage. Scanners sold in the U.S. have certain bands like the cell phone band blocked out. Not that I would encourage anyone to eavesdrop on cell calls, but I don't like the idea of being restricted in which bands I can monitor. I was very happy with their service. OTOH, you can probably find good scanners on ebay as well.
