I just had a talk with pilot friend of mine and we discussed the AREA 51 runway. We have theory about why it's so long. The ability to make an emergency landing "after take-off." You see, when your taking off, and this is "any aircraft", you are at full throttle, everyhting is at maximum. There is one cardinal rule about take-offs. Take-off time is the time that somthings going to break if at all. To be able to have all that "extra" runway would be PERFECT! The expensive nature of these craft would almost demand it. That's what it is folks....one big wopping cushion for error. We're pretty certain. What do you think?
