I'm not that up on Kirkland AFB, but IIRC it is the home of the laser weapons development (along with other weapons). I see Sandia Labs has a big facility (also runs TTR) there. I remember seeing something on a test ( can not remember just what) being run on a long rail system, as seen in one picture. Certainly enough golf courses around the area.
