I've also heard that the YF-113G wasn't a MiG-23, but I doubt whether it applied to the Bird of Prey. The BOP was a private company project flown by Boeing Phantom Works, and as such, I don't think it ever had USAF markings or a YF/F- designation.

Perhaps Richard can enlighten us, as I remember discussing the YF-113G with him a few years back.
