GPS purchase

First, thank you to those that posted here and emailed privately concering my questions about GPS units. I thought I'd post some info about what I bought to help anyone thinking about getting one.

It was a tough decision between the Garmin Etrex Vista and the Magellan Merdian Gold. I ended up with the Meridian for a couple of reasons. It has a larger screen and I could expand the memory with an add in card up to 64MB. The main drawback is the larger size but that is something I can deal with. The memory upgrade has allowed me to store a detailed street map and a topo map of the central Texas area covering over 75,000 square miles each. I'm using only about 45MB of the card so I could store more area if needed.

If anyone has any questions about the unit I would be happy to answer them.

John
