At the last Red Flag, the planes specialized in flying TDH (too damn high). Even at distances of 7.5 miles, a black B2 could easily be identified. [Distances determined from photographs using known dimensions of the plane and the size of the image on the film.] I think with a bit more effort, bombers could be spotted and identified visually at about 25 miles. Maybe further should they emit a decent contrail. We spotted the contrails from the flight routes along route 95 at easily 100 miles away, though the plane could not be identified.
