I have been visiting this section of Nevada for the last 15 years. I have made some very good friends in Rachel over the last 12 years. Quite a few are no longer with us. I cannot point to anything specific that would have been the cause of the passing of these friends. However the fact that this area gets this type of an exemption makes ignoring the effects unacceptable. Allowing the progress is necessary. I hope the site has made improvements toward elimitating the risks. If not they should. Those of us that will still continue to visit need to keep the friends that still reside and work there. Perhaps pushing an "internal" protection plan is what we should focus on.
