As you can see their are pictures all over the net of the security (cammo dudes). I have taken many images of the signs, the cammo dudes, cameras, antennas, the gates as many others have, and have never been bothered. As long as you stay on the public side of the border and dont do anything really stupid I believe that you are in good shape.
Definition of really stupid would include but not be limited too chucking large bolders at the cammos,firing live ammo, speaking unkindly about their mothers, and jumping back and forth across the border. Seriously, in some areas the border is not marked as clearly as it could be. If you are hiking and are not sure of where you are in realtionship to the border its best to back up and regroup.
