Whatever created the contrail was likely flying higher than other aircraft routinely fly. Here in the west, we occasionally see similar contrails from rocket and missile launches from Vandenberg AFB in California. I remember watching a few test flights of the X-15 over the California desert in the early 1960's where the contrail looked quite similar to those that you photographed shortly after the aircraft passed by.
