Do we know that the F-22 does not have afterburners? We know it delivers 'supercruise' without said afterburner but the supposition that the plane does not have a burner may be just that. How about requiring higher thrust after bleeding speed in a fight? How about at take off at max weight. The F119-PW-100 engines have nozzles designed to deal with the stresses of afterburning but I havn't been able to find any unequivocal evidence to support either argument.
