Vicktor Belenkof defected to Japan in a FOXBAT many years ago. He stayed but the MIG-25 after dissassembly, study, and reasembly (more or Less)we gave back to the Soviets. His book "MIG Pilot" ia an excellent read as to insight to the Soviet Military and their perception of the west. The MIG was made to counter the XB-70 that the Soviets thought we were going to produce to threaten them with a high-altitude supersonic bomber. The huge Turmansky engines were powerful, but gas guzzlers (he barely made it to Japan and he started with full tanks). We probably have some stashed at Groom, but this was a reconnissance model, so getting our hands on the optics and electronics is going to be the value-added part.
