On any given workday an estimated 1000 to 1500 people take the Janet flights from Vegas north into the ranges. These estimates are based on car counts at the Janet parking lot in Vegas, and observing people board the planes. However, the Janets go to both TTR and Area 51 at about the same frequency, so you end up with 500 to 750 workers from the Janets.
Maybe a dozen drives in via GL Rd. and North Gate, and anoter 20 or 30 take the white bus from Alamo each day. Make that a total of max. 50 vehicle commuters from the north.
Not sure how many commute in from the south, via Mercury. Judging from the sat. photos it must be a considerable number. Most of them will probably stay there for the week. Their dormitories have over 1000 capacity, and there is even a health club and recreation facilities at the site. Doing a headcount at the Mercury gate very early Monday morning and one in the middle of the week might be interesting. The difference is likely to spend the week at Groom.
