Thanks for the clarification. This new runway was started in January, when Steve Hauser did his crazy winter Tikaboo climb. The short distance does make sense that it will be used for UAV use and perhaps the small Janets. I was on Tikaboo when I saw a Beach take off. I didn't see it on the ground so I can't say if it used this runway or not. However, I saw it in the air coming toward me, but a bit to my left (facing the base). It circled over Dog Bone Lake, then headed north. This may be the take off procedure for this new runway, given it's orientation.

While not Area 51 related, you can see a new target on Range 61 from Tikaboo. I haven't driven to the Range 61 gate to see if this target is visible from the ground.
