All comercial TV and Movies are focused on ONE thing and ONE thing only - to make money by influencing viewers. Either by making a program that people will like and pay money to see, or buy what they present as desireable. The advent of product placement (the label-out can of Pepsi that the hero takes a long swig out of) shows that it can be suble and still be effective.
If there was a big profit in accurate AREA 51 documentaries then there would not be mistakes and weak programs we have seen. Whenever there is a movie made SOMEONE had to convince a studio that it would make money. If there is lots of money made then there will be a sequel with little regard for plot or talent - explaining the series of "Police Academy" movies.
Sorry all for drifting off-topic so far, but TV is THE most influential effect on our society and people needs to know that what is shown is based on money, not truth, and people are shown what is wanted to be shown by a very select group that has their own agenas. If smart advertisers are willing to spend millions on a thirty second commercial to sway opinion, whay makes you thing that the Producers of "Sixty Minutes" don't utilize that fact as well. You might suddenly feel like grabbing a cold one after seeing a Budweiser commercial, but you might not readily recognize the suble effect after seeing an "unbiased" news program of all of sudden having a prepackaged opinion pop into your brain. But it's there, and it's no accident. the truth is out there, but don't count on it coming through your cathode ray tube or HDTV. Yes it's entertainment, but with a clause that states "buy this" or "trust me" in a voice that is seldom heard clearly, but nevertheless lodges quietly in our conciousness.
