I agree pretty much with RedOctobers thoughts about China. I have a copy of the Cox Report from the House Select Committee, here are some of the highlights:
1) The Peoples Republic of China has stolen design information from the U.S. primarily on advanced thermonuclear weapons. Information about the w-56,w-62,w-70,w-76,w-78,w-87 and w-88 warheads have been compromised.
2) U.S. and international export control policies have facilitated China's efforts to obtain military technology.
3) A multi-axis machine tool profiler designed to build wing spans for the F-14 fighter originally cost $3-million, but was purchased from the PRC for less than $25,000.
4) High performance computers that run at speeds between 1500 to 40000 million of theoretical operations per second (MTOPS) have been purcgased from the U.S. These computers can aid in the development of nuclear, chemical, ballistic missiles, c3 and information warefare.

This represents only a small portion of the report, there is good reason to worry about China's plans and designs in the Pacific region. Many comrntators have spoken of China "as the next great superpower".
