Recently the government has announced that they want to get out of most of their Military bases on Germany, Okinawa, and South Korea; in order to re-align with the current political climate. As a youngster we were stationed on Okinawa and my friends and I used to love to go out at night and watch the SR-71’s fly, my Dad worked on them a few times. I recently watched a Discovery channel special about the missions that the Habu squadron was flying back then, over the Soviet Union and other critical areas. To us it was just the coolest damn jet in the skies. I think the majority of bases we were ever stationed on have been closed, but I have great memories of all of them.
