On my March 2003 trip to Lincoln County I talked with a deputy sheriff who said two NASA guys were in the county looking for shuttle debris in the area south of Panaca.

Also I met an old guy who was camping south of Blue Nose Peak (just north of the Mormon Mountains) who thought he had found a shuttle part. He described the part and it is definitely an aerospace part and not an old car or something. He had found no other parts in a week of looking. I didn't find any either in an hour of looking. Anyway he had looked at it with a microscope and it was burned on one end but not the other. I didn't get to see it since he had already turned it in but he said NASA was going to come out and check. They had wanted a GPS for it which he didn't have so I did it for him and turned the coords in to the sheriff's department. Who knows?
