I see your point regarding using the distance to Rachel as the criteria versus picking the waypoints that straddle Rachel. Granted those waypoints are both on the "wrong side" of town, but they are closer. However, the path looks pretty straight.

The feds searching for debris in Caliente? Sounds like a job for Tom Mahood.

Going back to Tom's earlier post, I found a cable around Queen City Summit that looks like it was used for instrumentation since it had a multi-pin Amphenol connector on it. [Found before the crash.] However, if somebody searched the area and found the cable, it would take quite a bit of work to figure out that cable has nothing to do with the shuttle. Given the age of the shuttle, I bet it has plenty of amphenol connectors on its interconnect. Then there was the F15 crash not all that far from the Sand Spring Valley dry lake, the Harrier near the dump, etc.
