I interviewed an Aussie C-130 Navigator after he returned from that Red Flag, and he reported the Hind would lurk in the area between Kawich Lake and the southern end of TTR and try to pick off any unsuspecting transport aircraft transiting these areas. It got to the point where it became necessary for fighters to fly a combat sweep specifically for the Hind, or even to escort the transports in and out on occasion.

It has been reported that these Hinds have been equipped with an SA-8 system that has been modified for air-to-air which is apparently highly effective!

According to a recent article in a magazine (name forgotten sorry), there are apparently 3 Hinds in US service, with two based at Nellis/TTR, and one at El Paso.
