The spot Norio describes does provide an outstanding view of Edwards, with very easy access for all vehicles. I used to visit it regularly to watch shuttle landings at Edwards. It's a great view of the landing area, without any of the crowds that jammed the access road on the base. If anyone recalls the test where the FAA (??) deliberately crashed a radio controlled jetliner to study safety features (such as special fuel additives), that test occurred just north of this viewpoint.
