I was at a bay area machine shop today and it turns out one of the guys there used to work at Lawrence Livermore Labs in the mid 60's. Of course I asked if they had any flights from Livermore to the NTS, and he said back then they had one round trip a day going to the NTS. They used the Livermore airport. I'm going to make it a point to check this airport out and trace N numbers to see if any planes correspond to the NTS.

The other interesting thing is he said he worked on a rocket engine that was nuclear powered [Project Pluto I believe]. He said the rocket was tested on some sort of railroad track at the NTS.
