There is only one large jet aircraft with eight engines in service in the world, and that's the B-52. If it was light in colour, it may have been the 'new' NASA B-52H. It may have been coming into LAX to pick someone up, or to have some work done, or maybe it needed to put down in a hurry... The An-225 Myria has six engines. Magoo
