PALMDALE - A new and improved F/A-22 Raptor took wing, returning to its nest at Edwards Air Force Base, ready to begin the next phase of testing.
Raptor 08 was delivered to the base last week, the first of three aircraft to finish a modification program at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co.'s facility at Air Force Plant 42.

The aircraft, already a member of the test fleet at Edwards, arrived at Palmdale in July for modifications to install structural and avionics upgrades created during the developmental testing phase.
