Ray was indicating around 300kts or more.The first thing he did was get rid of the canopy.Then he ejected.The A12 continued toward Groom.Since the canopy was the first thing to go it makes sense that it would be nearer to Ray's impact point.This is especially true since Ray did not drift much because his chute did not open.
