Leave a PC on and run the scanner recorder at www.davee.com The software removes the gaps from the audio and stores the audio on the hard drive in a compressed format. Since most of the air traffic happens during the day, you could play it back in the evening after work. The scanner recorder is free and very solid. I think getting a solid reception of flag audio from your location is possible, but would require a good outdoor antenna. I keep looking for the real military airband discones to show up on ebay, but haven't seen them in some time.
